Grace Classical Christian Academy

Sanctified Scholarship
The best of our minds, given to the best of our studies. With the best of our efforts, from the foundation of biblical wisdom

  1. We believe the Bible to be the only inerrant, authoritative Word of God.

  2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.

  3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

  4. We believe that, for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary.

  5. We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone.

  6. We believe that faith without works is dead.

  7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

  8. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved to the resurrection of life and they that are lost to the resurrection of damnation.

  9. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Isolating the student from large sections of human knowledge is not the basis of a Christian education. Rather it is giving him or her the framework for total truth, rooted in the Creator’s existence and in the Bible’s teaching, so that in each step of the formal learning process the student will understand what is true and what is false and why it is true or false."
Francis Schaeffer

English, Composition and Literature

  • PK through 6th grade: Grace emphasizes reading, penmanship, spelling, grammar, composition and period-specific, age-appropriate literature.

Curriculum in grades 7th - 12th will emphasize writing and language development, with literature based vocabulary development. Literature content in these grades will progress through the Great Books of ancient, classical, early church, medieval, renaissance, reformation, modern, and American periods. Our literature parallels the study of history, providing advanced exposure to the finest literature of the West. In preparation for 11th grade Rhetoric, students in grades 2nd - 10th, learn the fourteen pre-rhetoric heuristics called the Progymnasmata.

"Progymnasmata are collections of speaking and writing exercises for students of rhetoric. As historians have shown, they played an extremely important role in European education from Antiquity to the beginnings of the Modern Era.” - The Very Idea of a Progymnasmata, Fleming, J. David, Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Throughout their tenure at Grace Classical, students will repeat the history concepts and timelines three times or every four years. Beginning in ancient times going through to the 20th century, overlaying the bible with secular texts to establish what is happening in the scriptures concurrently with the secular world. This provides students with a greater depth and understanding of who God is and how he is working out his plan.

Foreign Language

'Hardly any lawful price would seem to me too high for what I have gained by being made to learn Latin’ C.S. Lewis, Image and Imagination

Students at GCCA pursue Latin studies from the 3rd through the 10th-grade year. Instruction is largely in Latin with careful study which grants students all the means at their disposal to rapidly reach the goal of fluent and appreciative reading of the Latin classics.

Recognizing God, the creator in all things true, beautiful and good, GCCA provides instruction in Music and the Visual Arts.

Music:: We sing hymns and psalms as a means of worship. Vocal skills are developed in the early grades. All students are trained in smaller ensembles by grade and as an all school choir.

Visual Arts: Students learn the aesthetic principles of goodness, beauty, and truth. They learn to recognize and master the concepts of light and shadow, form and function.

Grammar level science students discover the works of God in His creation through experiential learning in physical and life sciences lessons. When students enter the logic stage of learning science provides the basis for ordering this revelation of God.

Laboratory experience verifies the great discoveries of scientists.

High school students will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Studying the principles and laws of each science the graduate will finish with a sound grasp of foundational scientific ideas.

Recognition of an orderly nature of God's creation undergirds the philosophy of mathematics at GCCA.

Grammar level mathematics study addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Logic level students develop in symbolic mathematics. Algebra requires the student to work with the unknown; to analyze each problem, discover its central point and apply knowledge already acquired to its solution.

High School level mathematics includes Geometry, Trigonometry, Integrated Mathematics, and Calculus.

Classical Christian educators describe theology as the "queen of the sciences" and philosophy as its "handmaiden." Bible, theology, philosophy and apologetics develop the thinking of the maturing student to effectively defend and advance the Christian faith in any arena.

Grammar School students study a portion of the Bible, beginning with Genesis and moving through Revelation, in a five-year sequence. Logic students study creeds and confessions of the church. In the Rhetoric grades, a comprehensive study of the law, history, poetry, and wisdom literature of the Old Testament, as well as the Gospels, Acts, and Pauline Epistles, exposes students to the revelation of God.

"But in your heart honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect."
1 Peter 3:15

GRACE is a discipleship school, assisting christian families in raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. While we hold to rigorous academic standards, our primary aim is biblical wisdom and sanctification.

GRACE provides a well-balanced, rigorous learning program in an environment of high standards, love and self-discipline.

Geronimo, Amen! Part 1

The Classical Difference

All subjects are taught with the Scriptures at the center using the classical teaching model of the trivium. Six tools of learning are used to facilitate learning in the younger grades at GCCA. These tools are memorization, imitation, sound offs, songs, chants and catechisms.

Geronimo, Amen! Part 2

The Classical Difference

Biblical truth and historical emphasis are critical components of a GRACE education. Students learn how to think well, write concisely and communicate persuasively. They graduate with a love for learning, an understanding of how to think and a desire to honor and glorify God.

GRACE is also a member of the Association of Classical & Christian Schools (ACCS).

What is classical Christian education?

Classical Christian education nurtures the next generation of believers to live a life transformed by a deeper love of Christ, His universe, His people, and His way.

What is the trivium?

The trivium is an age old, proven, Classical teaching model which incorporates children’s three natural stages of learning - Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric.

In the Grammar Stage, K-6 students learn the facts and rules of their subjects. The Logic Stage of grades 7-9, teaches knowledge with an understanding of what is learned. Lastly, the Rhetoric Stage educates students in grades 10-12 to articulate wisdom through concise verbal and written communication.

Grace Classical Christian Academy is a private, non-denominational classical Christian school, dedicated to providing families with an exceptional christian education in a discipleship setting.

PURPOSE: The undergirding philosophy of Grace Classical Christian Academy is a complete belief in and adherence to the Bible as God’s Word, applicable to all areas of life.

As a result of this conviction, Grace Classical Christian Academy should be considered as an extension of the family unit, under the assumption that the education of young people is the responsibility of parents and the immediate family, rather than the responsibility of the Government, or even of the Church.

As parents, we want to provide for our children an education that is both rigorously Christian and vigorously thoughtful.

MISSION: To provide an excellent classical education founded upon a biblical worldview which instills a love of learning, the ability for children to know how to think, not what to think, and in all things to honor and glorify Jesus Christ.

VISION: We aim to graduate young men and women who think clearly and listen carefully with discernment and understanding; who reason persuasively and articulate precisely; who are capable of evaluating their entire range of experience in the light of Scriptures; and who do so with eagerness in joyful submission to God. We desire them to recognize cultural influences as distinct from biblical, and to be unswayed towards evil by the former. We aim to find them well prepared in all situations, possessing both information and the knowledge of how to use it. We desire that they be socially graceful and spiritually gracious; equipped with and understanding the tools of learning; desiring to grow in understanding, yet fully realizing the limitations and foolishness of the wisdom of this world. We desire they have a heart for the lost and the courage to seek to dissuade those who are stumbling towards destruction; that they distinguish real religion from religion in form only; and that they possess the former, knowing and loving the Lord Jesus Christ. And all these we desire them to possess with humility and gratitude to God.

We likewise aim to cultivate these same qualities in our staff and to see them well paid so that they may make a career at Grace Classical Christian Academy. We desire them to be professional and diligent in their work, gifted in teaching, loving their students and their subjects. We desire they clearly understand classical education, how it works in their classroom and how their work fits into the whole; that they possess a lifelong hunger to learn and grow; and that they have opportunity to be refreshed and renewed. We desire to see them coach and nurture new staff and to serve as academic mentors to students. We look to see them mature in Christ, growing in the knowledge of God, their own children walking in the Lord.

We aim to cultivate in our parents a sense of responsibility for Grace Classical Christian Academy; to see them well informed about the goals of our classical and Christ-centered approach. We desire them to grow with the school, involved in and excited about the journey. We aim to help them to follow biblical principles in addressing concerns, to be inclined to hearing both sides of a story before rendering a verdict, and to embrace the Scripture’s injunctions to encourage and stir up one another in love and good works.

Finally, in our relationships with our community, we aim to be above reproach in our business dealings and supportive of the local business community. We further seek to exemplify the unity of the body of Christ, to develop greater fellowship and understanding with the churches, and to bring honor to our Lord in all our endeavors.
